The Siemens SICAM Fault Collector Gateway (FCG) receives both the load current values and distribution line faults with the help SICAM Fault Sensor Indicator (FSI). The received information and events are then transmitted to the control centre which is based on the IEC 60870-5-104 protocol or is directly sent to the Siemens FLiC service using the XMPP protocol. 

The fault detected by SICAM FSI is later communicated to Siemens SICAM FCG Gateway with the help of SRR (short-range radio) communication within a distance of 100 meters. The device comes with 6 binary inputs and 3 binary outputs and can be configured and diagnosed locally with the help of Web GUI by connecting to both PC or laptop or remotely through GPRS (General Packet Radio Service). SICAM FCG Web GUI allows its user to easily configure the display error, parameters, event log, downloading configuration and firmware up-gradation.

Functions Of Siemens SICAM FCG Gateway

Binary interfaces

  • On the terminal L, 3 binary inputs are independent and have a threshold of 8 V. 
  • On the terminal P, 2 binary inputs with a common root (P8, P9, and P10) and 1 binary input (P11, P12) are independent.
  • These binary inputs have selective thresholds (DC 19 V, DC 88 V, or DC 176 V)
  • An optimal adjustment to the pickup voltage is provided in the case of increased interference levels.
  • The binary outputs are built as relay contacts. 
  • The terminal block P has 2 relays (NO) outputs Normally open and 1 relay (CO) output change over. 
  • The relays can switch voltages up to 250 V both AC as well as DC and currents up to 5 A AC&DC.

Communication

  • Siemens SICAM FCG is a telecommunication gateway device connecting two networks i.e. SICAM FSIs and the control centre.
  • They provide user-friendly interfaces and support communication protocols to the SICAM FSIs with the help of SS (short-range radio) and to the control centre through mobile networks.
  • Sicam FCG gateway is an interworking function for the communication between SICAM FSIs and the control centre.
  • The various device communication interfaces and protocols are provided for better communication between the SICAM FCG and the control centre.
  • Siemens SICAM FCG is integrated with the Ethernet interface and supportable with parameterization and monitoring.
  • The communication interface supports the transmission of messages and measured values.

GSM module

The (short-range radio) SRR module communicates with SICAM FSI directly through a radio link in the license-free 2400-MHz band within a range of 100 meters. Any status change or overhead distribution line fault detected by SICAM FSI is transmitted to the SICAM FCG via SRR module (Short-range radio)

Time synchronization

  • External time synchronization is done through Network Time Protocol (NTP)
